Eating @ Casa Manila

11:01 AM

My small group of high school and university friends decided to go to Casa Manila to try the  Kamayan feast. We had a large group of people. This is my first time having the Kamayan and trying this restaurant.

Food: 2/5
Service: 0.5/5
Pricing: $30-40 per person for dinner

Atmosphere:
The restaurant has decor with lots of bamboo themes through the restaurant. Kind of looks like a tropical restaurant with using simple home-style farm wooden chairs

Food and Service:
Even thou we order the Kamayan days in advance, we had to wait 1.5 hours to get this mega meal. You would have thought that the kitchen would be prepare to expect us. I was completely wrong. The front staff was totally lost. Servers were constantly bringing wrong dishes to our table as we waited for the Kamayan (at least 3 times). They also didn't alert us to the poor coconut shell cups.

From other food blogs at the media event for Casa Manila, they put cups into the coconut shells. We thought the coconut shells were good enough to hold our drinks ... It was fun creating our own water fountains on our table ... There is an extra surcharge just for ordering the Kamayan - even if they provide crappy service. In regards to the taste of the Kamayan, it was okay in flavour but felt that each of the food pieces didn't combined together well. I felt like my toddler who adores using his hands to eat. The halo halo ice cream was tasty but the Kamayan experienced killed the mood for the rest of the night.

We will not be going back.
