Eating @ Santouka Ramen
9:53 AMWife and I finally have the chance to try out Hokkaido Ramen Santouka a couple times (whenever we go downtown). This ramen place was recommended by many of our friends. All of them said Santouka has one of the best ramen in Toronto and here we are giving it a try a couple times.
Visit: 5/23/2015
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 4/5
Pricing: $10-20 per noodle dish
Atmosphere:
Santouka is small restaurant for a ramen place. It could fit around 30 customers at a time. When we got there in the evening and there was a line up already. We waited about 20 minutes before we got seating. The design of the restaurant is very modern with a mix rustic look. Tables are close together in this restaurant like a cafeteria style setting. Staff are always constantly in a rush to see which customers are done and get new customers in. However, the staff was very friendly (they seem like all Japanese). For parking, you will need to pay for it in the neighborhood.
Food:
We ordered the shiyo and shoyu ramen. The ramen arrived very hot. The soup broth was pretty good, very refreshing and not too salty with the right balance. The rest of the ingredients blended with the rest of the soup. The noodle texture was spot on al dente. No complaints from me! It was a very satisfying ramen dish.
Out of the various ramen houses in Toronto, Santouka ramen in my opinion is the best.
The only negative comment I have is the price for the food! After eating the meal, I'm still hungry ...
