Eating @ Dragon Legend (AYCE Buffet)
11:28 AMAt the company that I work for, we normally hire a lot of co-op students from Toronto universities. Today, we celebrate the end of their work term by treating them to a lunch. Based on a many constraints (location, pricing, food options, preparation), I decided to treat the students to Dragon Legend Buffet due to spacious seating (200+) and food quality.
Sorry Mandarin - you lose at this especially in food quality. Sushi Kiku was another good option but the team had already visited this place too often.
Atmosphere:
Dragon Legend mirrors the food coming from other AYCE establishments like the Mandarin. The difference was in both the quality of food that is served and the atmosphere.
Its almost overwhelming for the first time stepping into the restaurant with the dark gothic themes of red and dark cherry everywhere. The main dining has many large project screens showcasing food videos from China (today was Rio 2016 Olympics from the swimming event).
Time to time, there are live performances on certain days at the restaurant - face changing shows. In addition, there are special meal events (like crab and oysters AYCE).
Service:
Since this is all you can eat style, the servers interactions were to take away plates, provided drinks and eventually the check.
Food Comments:
Peking duck was very popular here and it can only be found for dinner service or on holidays (including lunch). I had the original one in China from the birth place and I must say that the quality from Dragon Legend is not bad especially since it's AYCE. The sushi quality was above average and was quite surprised to find a specific person just handling out the sushi as a gig.
Noodle soup is something that always draws my attention. I was very pleased to see the cooks pulling the fresh noodles and cooking them. . They are chewy and I definitely had more than just a couple bowls. There were many options for mix matching the soups, meat toppings with the vegetable toppings.
The dessert section was pretty large. There were a large selection of cakes, ice creams, pies, and other traditional Chinese desserts. I am a fan of Chinese tofu with ginger syrup that I normally find in Dim Sum restaurants.
With that being said, I will be back again.
My favourite food dishes at Dragon Legend:
- Fried Chicken Wings
- Tofu with Ginger Syrup
- Noodle Station
- Peking Duck wrap when available
Fried chicken was the best here! |
the robot wasn't good enough for noodle making |
