This was a new restaurant that open a few years ago and I went during the grand opening. It was quite disappointing. Fast forward a few years, my group of old friends decided to visit this place again.
The decor looks the same and menu change dramatically. The food menu is quite similar to Congee Queen. For this visit, it wasn't packed with people.

There is 4 bubble tea shops in this Commerce Gate plaza. One of my favourite bubble tea shops is the Grass Jelly Milk Bubble Tea. For this visit, the Coco bubble tea shop was not open and visited here. They have free wifi (Password: their phone number) and sit in.
If I have no meetings on Tuesday during lunch hours, I would have enough free time to go out for lunch in the surrounding areas. For today, this was a trip to visit Koi Sakana Ramen house. By odd chance, it was recommended by two different people for a visit on the same day. I checked the online food ratings and the reviews seem positive.
We arrived just in time when it opened at 11:30am and were the first one to sit. We came early since the reviews noted that there might be a potential wait of 30 minutes. On this visit, there was no line up. Pricing for ramen starts around 9 dollars and up.

This was a new restaurant opening near Finch and Midland area in Toronto called Chili Legend. Dear found this place on YorkBBS website and decided we should give it a try. The store hours were kind of strange but wife said it's normal for people who do late night activities such as singing and wanted some late late grub eating.
We arrived by 6pm and the restaurant was getting filled people (mostly families). Everything on the menu was labelled hot with a chili label ("not surprising"). For ordering, we decided to limit ourselves to 2 items. Our daughter had her own food items from home.

- the spicy fish fillet was very good. The hottest/spiciness grows gradually until you are all sweating at the end. It was sweet but very oily. I always wondered if they would reuse all that chili peppers and peppercorns. It seems like a waste to throw after the meal...

Cafe Boulud is one of the newer restaurants in Toronto that is always packed for Winterlicious. By pure luck, I was able to secure a last minute reservation for my entire party for lunch. This restaurant just opened last year in time for TIFF.

The servers seem to be on the slow side. We constantly had to remind the staff for items (water , etc).
Food:
For the price of winterlicious lunch, it was okay food. Nothing was bad about it nor nothing was great. Would I try again? Sure. I really liked the desserts.

Near my work place on Hwy 7 exists many bubble tea shops. I got Chatime, Tea Shop 168 and now Coco all within 3 minutes of walking. I heard of Coco bubble tea when I went back to Taiwan many years ago. It was my favourite bubble tea joint back in Taipei. Fast forward many years later, I discovered that there is a Coco shop near my work place!
There was a grand opening and miss the free bubble tea on the opening day. There have this 1 week special of buy one get another bubble tea free (regular size of milk version). The menu options for ice and sugar are almost identical to Chatime with scales for ice and sugar selection. The price point is almost the same to Chatime.The store is very small with only ordering station and no seats.

- The free regular milk bubble tea was horrible (I asked for 30% sugar) and felt like drinking water. Going to up the sugar next time and see what happens ...

- My last few visits with Coco have been good - there was one time with a new staff who knew nothing!
- Chatime and Coco are very comparable - I actually like Coco due to it's wider range of non traditional bubble tea drinks

Scaddabush restaurant is actually part of the same retail chain as "Alice Fazooli". The marketing message for this restaurant was very simple: Italian kitchen serving fresh pastas and homemade mozzarella. You would have thought that restaurants would serve at least fresh made foods?

If I had no meetings on Tuesday, I would be available to go out for lunch. A few colleagues of mine would venture out to find new restaurants in our work area for lunch. I have previous visited the Scaddabush location in the downtown location and I wanted to try this "updated" location in Richmond Hill. This new restaurant has existed since Oct 2015. The décor inside looked exactly the same as "Alice Fazooli". The food menu was very simple and emphasize on the fresh noodles and home made giant meat balls. During the lunch service, the mozzarella balls were not available :(
